Job requirements for an assistant in sample preparation:
Completely
Essential Requirements: HND, BSC, and BA
Location: Nigeria, Cross River.
The purpose of this job is to ensure that representative samples are collected on time and that preparation is completed in accordance with the quality control plan and standard operating procedures.
Primary Accountabilities
- As a requirement of employment, follow the eight mandatory Holcim Health, Safety, and Environmental Rules in order to ensure worker safety and environmental safety.
- To always operate safely by utilizing the appropriate PPEs for each task and to adhere strictly to all safety regulations, guidelines, and policies.
- Should strictly adhere to the Quality Control Plan when sampling and preparing all raw materials, both quarried and received.
- In order to adhere to the zero-water tolerance policy, sample all fuels delivered to the quarry, plant, and Calabar Grinding Station.
To regularly collect and prepare the following samples throughout the shift in accordance with the shift chemist’s instructions and the quality control plan:
- Unprocessed.
- Kiln feed.
- Steaming dinner.
- Clinker (imported clinker and open yard).
- Cement (Auto Control, Jumbo bags, Bulk trucks, Contemporary, Dispatch, etc.).
- Samples from feeders (raw mills and cement mills).
- To analyze the moisture content of each feeder sample.
- To complete the moisture content and residue on sieves of the aforementioned samples promptly
- To conduct ad hoc (representative) sampling of imported gypsum, iron ore, fuel, raw mix, and quarry materials, and to prepare the samples uniformly for analysis as needed.
- To maintain such maintenance records and perform basic routine maintenance on all of the equipment in the Sample Preparation Lab.
- Must maintain and update all test records, both electronically and in hard copy
- To request and assist maintenance crews when performing preventative and corrective maintenance on the equipment in the Sample Preparation Laboratory.
- To keep track of and update the Sample Prep Laboratory’s inventory of pertinent spare parts, supplies, and equipment.
- To consistently report stock levels to the quality coordinator in order to guarantee timely material requests and deliveries.
- Must carry out any additional sampling or preparation work (special or non-routine samples) as the quality manager, coordinator, or chemists may occasionally request.
- To perform any additional tasks, assignments, or labor in any capacity as assigned by the Quality Manager or Coordinator owing to changing circumstances or employment needs.

- To be knowledgeable about laboratory practices and skilled in sample preparation and sampling.
