The University of Edinburgh Macqueen Scholarship is intended to promote research in postgraduate social work, with a focus on the experiences of single caregivers in one-parent households.

The University of Edinburgh’s Macqueen Scholarship requirements

In order to be eligible for the Macqueen Scholarship at the University of Edinburgh, you need to:

  • Apply online for admission to the social work Ph.D. program.
  • No later than five business days prior to the scholarship deadline, submit your application.
  • Submit a Macqueen PhD Scholarship application.

Advantages of the 2024 Macqueen Scholarship

The honor includes:

  • Complete tuition costs (in the UK, EU, or elsewhere).
  • For 2024–2025, the stipend will be determined at the UKRI level. For comparison, the pro rata equivalent of £18,622 for full-time students or the current UKRI level for 2023–24 is available.
  • An annual research grant of £750.
  • For full-time students, the award is good for three years; for part-time students, it is good for six years pro rata.
