The purpose of the University of Newcastle Excellence Scholarships is to draw exceptional international students to the university for studies in 2024 and beyond. This merit-based award encourages applicants to keep pushing themselves to be the greatest versions of themselves by recognizing and rewarding those with a strong academic background.
Scholarships will be given out automatically to students who accept an offer to enroll in a non-quota program at the University of Newcastle and who will start their studies there.
Qualifications Scholarships for University of Newcastle Excellence in 2024 Requirements
For applicants to be eligible for the University of Newcastle Excellence Scholarships, they need to:
- Possess a passport from one of Africa’s 54 nations.
- Enrolled in a qualifying undergraduate or graduate program of study to begin classes at the university, with the exception of programs offered at offshore campuses and ELICOS, Enabling, Non-Award, Higher Degrees by Research.
- Be a foreign student who pays their entire tuition.
- Be starting a program at an Australian or online campus that meets the requirements, as stated in your offer letter.
- Not be the recipient of another university scholarship unless the university has granted special dispensation in advance.
If your eligibility for the scholarship is not maintained, fulfill all of the financial requirements of a full-fee-paying foreign student, including the full tuition charge and other expenses to get your student visa.

The scholarship is worth AU$10,000 every year of study under a full-time load, divided equally among the courses taken, or $1250 per course.
This will be transferred immediately to your student account as a tuition fee reduction for each term of study in your qualified program(s), deducted from the total credits originally granted in your offer letter.
