2024 Spanish Government MAEC-AECID Scholarship
Citizens of Latin American, African, and Asian nations who wish to study in Spain can apply for the Spanish Government’s MAEC-AECID Scholarships.
As a State policy that encourages knowledge transfer, skill application, and opportunity creation within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the 2030 Agenda, and specifically with goals, the scholarship programs that comprise this call for applications respond to the development cooperation approach.

Academic Excellence Information:
This call’s goal is to provide funding for each of the following programs to train nationals of Spanish Cooperation partner countries, official development aid recipients, or those with an interest in Spain’s foreign policy as defined in the relevant annexes:
The Masters Program offers scholarships to public employees and personnel integrated into the public systems of Latin America and the Philippines to pursue a face-to-face master’s degree in Spain. This program is part of the bilateral strategies of the current Master Plan for Spanish Cooperation.
The AFRICA-MED Program offers scholarships to residents of African and Middle Eastern nations who are either recipients of official development assistance (ODA) or included in the bilateral strategies of the current Master Plan for Spanish Cooperation. The scholarships are intended for training and research stays in Spain.
DIPLOMATIC SCHOOL Program: scholarships to study for an inter-university master’s degree in diplomacy and international relations at the Spanish Diplomatic School for nationals of Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, and the Philippines.
The MUSICA Program offers scholarships to Latin American residents to attend the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in Madrid for exceptional musical training.
Scholarship Prerequisites
To be eligible for the scholarship, you have to:
- Not hold a Spanish nationality or a Spanish Identification Number for Foreigners, or NIE.
- Not hold dual citizenship with any EU member state.
- Applicants who hold dual nationality and are citizens of a non-EU nation need to select their desired nationality when filling out the scholarship application and supplying the relevant identification information.
- Hold a valid national passport at the time of admission to the destination center.
- Not be a resident of any EU nation, including Spain
