The Lester B. Pearson Scholarship at the University of Toronto is given out annually or every year.
International students enrolled in Canadian high schools are among the exceptional students from throughout the globe who are honored with these awards.
This is the most esteemed and competitive scholarship available to international students at the University of Toronto.
The grant is only available to first-year undergraduate students at the University of Toronto. The Lester B. Pearson Scholars will be awarded to about 37 students annually.
Qualifications for the 2024 University of Toronto Scholarship
You need to be the following to be eligible to apply for the Pearson International Scholarship:
- An international student, meaning that they are not Canadian citizens and need a study permit.
- They must be in their final year of secondary education or have graduated by June 2023 at the latest.
September 2024 is the commencement of your studies at the University of Toronto (students enrolled in another post-secondary institution who began their studies in January 2024 will not be considered; students who are already enrolled in post-secondary education will not be considered).

Deadlines for the Lester B. Pearson Scholarship
To apply for the Lester B. Pearson Award at the University of Toronto, you must first obtain a nomination from your secondary school. There are deadlines for each step of the application that need to be met.
Deadline to nominate a school: November 30, 2023
Deadline to apply for student admission to OUAC: December 15, 2023
(Note that although you can apply until December 15, 2023, it is advised that you apply for admission through the OUAC as soon as feasible.) This is the last day to apply for the OUAC. It is advised to apply for admission before November 7, 2023, as popular programs may close early and spots fill up quickly.)
The deadline for student scholarship applications is January 15, 2024.
How to Apply (Step by Step) for the 2024 University of Toronto Scholarship
Applications for the Lester B. Pearson Award competition for 2024 are now being accepted from interested students worldwide. The competition opened in September 2023. Here is the detailed procedure you must follow to apply:
Step 1: Ask your school to submit a nomination. If your high school hasn’t been contacted or validated yet, you can apply to be a part of our program here starting in September. (Source: outside website) Early September is when high schools that took part in the previous year’s program will get their nomination access.
Step 2: Submit your application for admission to the University of Toronto (external link) by the relevant deadlines to start your studies in September 2024.
Please be aware that you will be considered for the Pearson Scholarship for the U of T program which is your top preference.
Note: You may apply to many programs and may be admitted to each one; but, if you are awarded the Pearson Scholarship, it will only be applied to the program of your choice at U of T at the time our scholarship choices are announced.
Step 3: You can complete the online Lester B. Pearson Scholarship application after applying to the University of Toronto Scholarship body and receiving a nomination. Once your school has successfully nominated you, you will receive a private connection to the scholarship application.
