2024 Indonesian Government KNB Scholarships

The Kemitraan Negara Berkembang Scholarship, also known as the KNB Scholarship, is a financial assistance program provided by the Indonesian government to prospective international students from developing countries who wish to have a degree (Bachelor, Master, or Doctorate Degree) at one of Indonesia’s universities.

The scholarship was developed during the 10th Conference of Heads of State of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) nations on September 1st-6th, 1992. In the following year, the Government of the Republic of Indonesia began offering scholarships to prospective students from NAM member nations.

Indonesian Government’s KNB Scholarships Details:

KNB provides a unique opportunity to study at top Indonesian institutions while living in a varied and lively community. Students who get the scholarship will have the opportunity to participate in high-quality degree programs managed by 31 (thirty-one) different universities.

In 2024, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, in collaboration with 31 (thirty-one) KNB Scholarship host universities in Indonesia, will accept 222 (two hundred twenty-two) KNB Scholarship applicants, including 30 Bachelor awardees, 162 Master awardees, and 30 Doctoral awardees.

Eligibility requirements for the 2024 Indonesian Government KNB Scholarships:

To qualify for the scholarship, you must:

Bachelor’s

The maximum age for applying for the scholarship is 21 years.
Possess a high school diploma (please supply scanned degree certificates and academic transcripts in English or Bahasa). Please note that holders of a Bachelor’s degree are not eligible to apply for the Bachelor’s Degree scholarship.
The English Proficiency Test Score is as follows: TOEFL ITP: 477, TOEFL IBT: 53, IELTS: 5.5, TOEIC: 510 (certificates received within the previous 2 years).
Participants who speak English (as mentioned on their diploma/transcript) are not required to submit an English competency paper but must attach formal evidence from their home university.

To apply for the KNB scholarship, include a reference letter from your employer or direct supervisor in English or Bahasa.
Provide an academic recommendation letter from prior schools in English or Bahasa.
Provide an academic certificate and transcript of a high school diploma in English or Bahasa.
Prove your citizenship by submitting an official passport that is still valid for at least two years.

Masters

The grant is available for master’s degrees and has a maximum age of 35.
Have a Bachelor’s degree (please supply scanned degree certificate and academic transcripts in English or Bahasa). Please note that Master’s degree holders are ineligible to apply for the Master’s Degree Scholarship.
The English Proficiency Test Score is as follows: The following qualifications are required: TOEFL ITP of 500, TOEFL IBT of 61, IELTS of 6.0, and TOEIC of 575 (within the previous 2 years). Participants of foreign nationality who come from English-speaking countries, or participants from a university who are enrolled in English-language programs (as stated on the participant diploma/transcript), do not need to submit the English proficiency document by attaching official proof from their home institution.

The maximum age to apply for the scholarship is 40 years old.
Hold a Master’s degree (please supply a scanned degree certificate and academic transcripts in English or Bahasa). Please note that Doctorate holders are ineligible to apply for the Doctorate Degree Scholarship.
Obtain a reference letter in English or Bahasa from the possible research supervisor at one of the universities that cooperate with the KNB Scholarship.
Provide a statement of intent in English or Bahasa that at least indicates the objective of their studies, the source of their interest in studying in Indonesia and pursuing their chosen research subject, and their academic plans (dissertation proposal).
The English Proficiency Test scores are as follows: TOEFL ITP: 530, TOEFL IBT: 71, IELTS: 6.0, TOEIC: 640 (certificates must be received within the past 2 years). Participants of foreign nationality from English-speaking countries, or participants from a university who are enrolled in English-language programs (as stated on the participant diploma/transcript), are exempt from submitting the English proficiency document by attaching official proof from their home university.
