Each academic year, 150 highly brilliant international students are awarded $35,000 scholarships as part of the High Potential Scholarship program.
The award is intended to assist students who have been accepted into the University of Michigan’s undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral programs.
The University Scholarship Fund-funded High Potential Scholarship and the J.Morgan Grant-funded Albright Scholarship are the two components of the scholarship program. The Vanderbilt Institute funds the former.

You need to be eligible for the University of Michigan High Potential Scholarship.
- Have applied to enroll full-time in the University of Michigan’s 2024–2025 academic year.
- Fulfill the requirements for a U.S. visa when studying abroad.
- Not hold citizenship in Surinam, Switzerland, the European Union/EEA, or the United States.
- Show outstanding academic achievement, placing yourself in the top 5% of applicants.
- Have never enrolled in a degree-seeking program in the US (exchange program participants accepted).
- On September 1, 2024, be under 45 years of age.
