Cities Alliance Call for Papers: Managing Migration in the Horn of Africa 2022

With partnership from the European Union, Cities Alliance is launching an invitation for Papers to recognize, assemble, and circulate the best approaches, procedures, and policies on migration and refugee management in the local communities in the Horn of Africa.

The program is part of the Comprehensive Refugee Response Framework that includes Urban Development and Mobility – Regional Network and Dialogue Action, partnered by the European Union Emergency Trust Fund for Africa.

The best papers will be edited and published in a collection of regional best practices produced by Cities Alliance. The author of the best papers will receive an invitation to present the findings to crucial local and national authorities for the final one-on-one learning of the Action in Koboko, Uganda in March 2023.

The best paper will be edited and published in a collection.

Requirements for Call for Papers: Managing Migration in the Horn of Africa

This is open to graduate and undergraduate students from universities in the Horn of Africa. The paper should target one city participating in the program  The cities are Aura and Koboko, Uganda; Borama and Gabiley, Somalia; Assosa and Jigjiga, Ethiopia; and Kakuma, Kenya.

There is an opportunity to co-author the papers but they must include at least one university student. One of the authors will be allowed to attend the program and present the paper.

Interview date, Process, and Venue for Call for Papers: Managing Migration in the Horn of Africa

The paper will be vetted by a panel of foreign experts and local collaborators, involving key authorities.

  1. The Abstract should be written clearly with captivating research questions.
  2. Fondness will be given to the presentation of the first, field-based research.
  3. Policy-based and result-oriented papers.

By December 2022, the selection process is expected to be done.
